1. How do I sign up for pet sitting, dog boarding and/or dog walking service?

A. You can call the My Local Pet Sitter office 954-417-1137 and we will be happy to discuss your pet care needs. You can also fill-out contact us form and we will return a call within a couple of hours. We will then set up a complimentary meeting between you and one of our professional pet sitters or dog walkers. This meeting will help familiarize the sitter with your pets and home, and give you an opportunity to go over the pet(s) routine and special dietary and exercise needs.Return to Top

2. Are you licensed, insured and bonded?

A. Yes. My Local Pet Sitter is licensed, and all of our sitters are insured and bonded through My Local Pet Sitter.Return to Top

3. How are my keys handled? When should I give the pet sitter my keys?

A. We recommend giving your key to the sitter during the "Meet and Greet". If you are unable to do so at that time, we charge a $15 pick-up fee. We can keep the key on file if you travel often, or we can leave it in your home at the end of the sit, whichever you prefer. If you decide to have the sitter leave the key in your home, please arrange for a neighbor or someone nearby to have a spare key in the event that you are delayed.Return to Top

4. Does the pet sitter I meet personally care of my pets?

A.Absolutely! You will always meet the Pet Sitters who will care for your pets. Your pet sitter will offer an introduction to understand your pet sitting needs and to learn all that takes to keep your pet and home happy and safe. Also, we do not bring anyone inside your home other than the contracted pet sitter without your prior consent.Return to Top

5. What is the introduction (aka Meet and Greet) all about?

A.At the introduction we get to know you, your pets and your homes. We will ask many questions and make meticulous notes on all the particulars of caring for your pets and your home. We present you with a folder which includes some testimonials clients have left for us, a service contract, a copy of our Pet First Aid certificate and other important information about our services.Return to Top

6. What is the best way to communicate with My Local Pet Sitter?

A. We hold regular office hours from 8am-6pm Monday-Friday, and Saturday from 9am-3pm. Our office closes on Sunday so that we can dedicate our time to our furry ones. During these times we will do our best to pick-up your call, but we may at times be attending to other clients so we do ask you to leave a voicemessage and we will get back to you within a couple of hours or if our office is closed, we will return the call when we open again.

7. How is my payment handled?

A.For pet sitting and home dog boarding visits, following our introduction meeting we will send you an invoice with the total for your service. We ask for the full amount to be paid either via credit card using PayPal (no need to have an account with them) or leaving a check for us during the first scheduled visit or at the time of drop-off.

For dog walking, at the end of the week you can either pay via PayPal or leave us a check at the counter on the last walk of the visit.Return to Top

8. How many pet sitting visits should I schedule for my pets?

A.For most dogs, we recommend a minimum of three visits per day. If you have cats, one visit a day for a healthy cat is recommended. If your pet is not yet house trained, a puppy (or kitty) or elderly then we suggest more visits per day.Return to Top

9. Who are your pet sitters?

A.We are first and foremost, pet lovers. We are knowledgeable about pet's health and general well-being. All of our pet sitter's have passed a thorough background check and pet care training. We have an extensive list of references available upon requests and you can also read our posted testimonials. We also have Certified Pet Sitters in our staff.Return to Top

10. Will I get the same pet sitters each time I travel?

A. We will make every effort to assign the same pet sitter, however a pet sitter could be already fully booked or have a scheduled vacation. In such case, we will introduce you to another pet sitter who you will be equally satisfied to provide the best pet sitting service you expect from us.Return to Top

11. What will be done during the pet sitting visits?

A. During dog sitting visits, we will walk, feed, play, replenish and clean water bowls, and also bring in the mail and newspaper, and water house plants according to your requests. Also to give your home a lived-in look, we can alter lights and blinds.

During the cat sitting visit, we clean out the litter box, and spend time with your kitty. If your pet is being medicated, we can also administer most medication as long as it does not pose a threat to us, and also except for injections. Return to Top

12. Can you administer medication to my pets while I'm away?

A. Absolutely! We will give any oral medication to your pets. However we are not able to administer injections.Return to Top

13. I have a last minute visit, would you be able to help me?

A. We are pretty flexible and as long as we have availability we can accommodate last minute requests although we cannot guarantee availability. We do charge $15 rush fee if the first visit is less than 4 days from the time you contact us and $30 if it is less than 2 days from the time you contact us.Return to Top

14. What are the times available for daily dog walking?

A. Our dog walking services are from 11am-3pm. We do ask for a minimum of 2 walks per week in order for us to have a consistent schedule. If you need dog walking service at other hours, we are able to accommodate in our pet sitting schedule.Return to Top

15. What is the earliest and latest possible times for pet sitting visits?

A. The earliest visit we schedule is at 6:00 am and the latest is at 7:30pm. We apologize but we are unable to visit past that time. If your pets need a visit past that time, we do offer overnight pet sitting or home boarding.Return to Top

17. What can I expect to find when I arrive home after the pet sitting visits?

A. You can expect to find your home as clean as when you left and your pets happy and relaxed upon your arrival. You will also find a note from us letting you know how the visit went. We will also ask that you call or e-mail us to let us know you have arrived safely so we know your pets are cared for.Return to Top

18. Do your dog walkers take dogs off-leash on walks?

A. For your pets safety we do not offer off-leash walks. Although your dog may be very responsive to you, it may not yet have created that bond with the dog walker.Return to Top
